London Restaurant Festival 2015.

‘When does London not have a food festival?’ may be a question running through some of your minds. Even though we don’t need an excuse to eat out, it’s nice to have one from time to time. This time it’s not just a national day or a week’s special. Throughout October the London Restaurant Festival sees some of the city’s best venues put on special offers and set menus, so that the hungry can try them out for cheaper than usual. You need to jump on the bandwagon pretty quickly though, as you have to pre-book a table before you visit and it ends next Friday! Here’s a few places that I would recommend taking part in the National Restaurant Festival:

  • Trishna: This Michelin-starred restaurant from Karam Sethi celebrates the coastal cuisine of southwest India. It’s the sister restaurant of Gymkhana – one of the most highly regarded Indian restaurant’s in London. It only uses the best seasonal British ingredients and the drinks menu is filled with carefully sourced bottles and Indian-themed cocktails. The set three-course menu includes favourites such as: Tellicherry squid, Papad paneer tikka, Dorset brown crab, Moplah seafood biryani and Saag aloo.
  • Hawksmoor Knightsbridge: Date nights at Hawksmoor are always the best. Hawksmoor Knightsbridge is the fifth site from the group and just like the Seven Dials site, it’s in an intimate basement location. The site’s glamourous subterranean 1930’s interior features wood-clad walls and elegant arched windows. The menu revolves around what they do best – succulent steak from British cattle supplied by The Ginger Pig. The menu also features seafood specials and a selection of cocktails.
  • Hush Brasserie: I’m a sucker for a good afternoon tea. What better way of spending an afternoon drinking gallons of tea and your body weight in sandwiches and cakes? Selected Hush Brasserie sites are offering a ‘Sparkling afternoon tea and jam Bellini’ at just £19.95 a person and it’s a haven from the hectic pace of central London. My personal favourite is the St. Pauls site. With sensational views of the cathedral and cosy chic interior, it’s the best place to sit back, relax and take in the surroundings.
  • Jamie’s Italian: Want a restaurant that has something for everyone? Jamie’s Italian is always a winner. At selected London sites such as Covent Garden, Greenwich and Angel you can have a set three course meal for just £20. The menu includes baked chestnut mushrooms, Italian nachos, Italian steak, penne carbonara, the epic brownie and seasonal Pavlova. If you go here, you know everyone will leave happy…
