Diwali 2015.

Wednesday 11th November marks the most significant festivals in Indian culture: Diwali, the festival of lights. Millions of people will come together with family and friends to celebrate by attending firework displays, prayers, and of course a whole lot of food! The festival, which coincides with the Hindu New Year, celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.

Fancy going out for Diwali dinner?

If I could suggest two places for Diwali dinner in London it would definitely be the following:

Dishoom is all about reflecting the vibrancy and warmth of a homely Bombay café. During 9th-15th November all four restaurants will be serving a Diwali special dish of Shaam Savera, a delicious vegetarian classic of spinach and paneer koftas served in a creamy makhni gravy. So you still have a couple of days to go get a whole lot of goodness down you!

Even before it gained its first Michelin star, Gymkhana has had a number of outstanding reviews by critically acclaimed newspapers. Owned by Karam Sethi, the chef behind Trishna in Marylebone, Gymkhana has introduced special Diwali seven course taster menu, with separate menus for vegetarians and meat lovers. The menu includes: Samosa papdi chat, Gilafi pheasant seekh kebab with pineapple chilli chutney, wild boar vindaloo and cardamom kheer.

If you’re spending Diwali in Dubai, like our jammy sister company Sirius Products:

Last year, contemporary fine dining Indian restaurant Mint Leaf opened its doors on the 15th floor of the Emirates Financial South Tower, in the heart of DIFC. Until Wednesday 11th November it will serve a Diwali-inspired three-course menu with dishes such as mutton bhoona, dal panchmel (five-lentil stew) and murgh kaju korma with braised chicken thighs and cashew nuts. Desserts include a gajar halwa tart with carrot and fudge and rasgulla. Lamps will be lit throughout the restaurant to add to the festive mood.

Wherever you are in the world, hope you have a Happy Diwali.
