Bevs Football Challenge 2015
Yesterday our very own football team The Mighty Ducts took part in Bev’s Football Challenge at the Emirates Stadium. Since last year, The Mighty Ducts have been coming together every Thursday to take part in the Welwyn 5 a-side-league and have won the following awards: League One Winners 2014 and the Plate Cup Winners 2014-2015. This year one of our three chosen corporate charities Isabel Hospice organised Bev’s Football Challenge. This event raises money for Isabel Hospice who looked after Bev – Bradley Hewitt, the organiser’s Aunt – in her final days after a brave fight against breast cancer.
Bank Holiday Monday is a time for most of us to have a lie in and enjoy the extra day off. But not for The Mighty Ducts. They had to get up bright and early to make their 6am minibus to the Emirates Stadium…yes, you read right 6am! After a quick McDonald’s breakfast they headed to the stadium for a briefing. After being put into groups of eight teams and playing seven matches they unfortunately didn’t make it past the group stage, nevertheless they had so much fun playing on Arsenal’s turf and feeling like a professional footballer for the day.
The team have done exceptionally well and have raised £727 for Isabel Hospice. There’s still a chance to donate money to them here: https://www.justgiving.com/Chapman-VentilationFootball/
